Twins Surrender Eight Runs In A Single Inning During A 9 4 Loss To The Rays Wednesday

The Tampa Bay Rays Walloped the Minnesota Twins in a Blowout Wednesday

Twins Give Up Season-High Eight Runs in Fourth Inning

Rays Extend Win Streak to Four, Now 8-2 in Last 10 Games

The Minnesota Twins suffered a crushing 9-4 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, surrendering a season-high eight runs in a disastrous fourth inning.

The Rays offense exploded in the fourth, chasing Twins starter Chris Archer from the game. Archer allowed six runs on seven hits and two walks in just 3 1/3 innings.

The Twins bullpen failed to stem the bleeding, with reliever Tyler Duffey surrendering two more runs in the inning, including a two-run homer to Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena.

The Rays extended their winning streak to four games with the victory, while the Twins dropped their third straight game, falling to 15-22 on the season.

The Twins have now allowed 29 runs in their last three games, raising concerns about their pitching staff, which entered the season with high expectations.

The Rays, on the other hand, have been one of the hottest teams in baseball since the start of May, winning 14 of their last 19 games to climb into contention in the AL East.

The two teams will face off again on Thursday in the second game of their three-game series at Tropicana Field.
