Grant Williams leads Celtics with career-high 27 points

Celtics now 1-0 in series, Game 2 set for Sunday

The Boston Celtics took Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night, led by a career-high 27 points from Grant Williams. The Celtics won 112-87, taking an early lead in the best-of-seven series.

Williams hit seven 3-pointers in the game, tying an NBA Finals record for most 3-pointers made by a player off the bench. He also had eight rebounds and four assists.

Jayson Tatum added 21 points for the Celtics, while Jaylen Brown had 18 points and Marcus Smart had 15 points.

Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 20 points, while Spencer Dinwiddie had 17 points and Jalen Brunson had 15 points.

The Celtics jumped out to a 14-point lead in the first quarter and never looked back. They led by as many as 25 points in the second half.

The Mavericks struggled to find their rhythm on offense, shooting just 37.6% from the field and 25.0% from three-point range.

Game 2 of the series is set for Sunday night in Boston.
