Liverpool Escapes Earthquake Swarm

No Earthquakes Recorded in Liverpool in Past Month

Recent Earthquake Near Liverpool Was Minor

Residents of Liverpool can breathe a sigh of relief as there have been no earthquakes recorded in the city in the past month. This is a welcome reprieve after a minor earthquake hit near Liverpool on the evening of June 28, 2023.

The 2.7 magnitude earthquake was located near the city center and was felt by many residents. However, there were no reports of damage or injuries. This earthquake is a reminder that Liverpool is not immune to earthquakes, but it is also a reminder that most earthquakes in the area are minor and cause no damage.

According to the British Geological Survey, there have been only two earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or above in Liverpool since 2023, and both of those earthquakes were felt by residents. This is a relatively low number of earthquakes, especially when compared to other parts of the UK, such as Scotland, which has experienced several large earthquakes in recent years.

While the risk of a large earthquake in Liverpool is low, it is still important to be prepared. Residents should make sure they have an earthquake preparedness plan in place and know what to do in the event of an earthquake.
